Visiting France

France is the home of Peugeot cars and is a beautiful European country steeped in history. It is a traditional country full of culture and varied landscapes, it is impossible to say which are the 'best' areas to visit but this is a selection of just a few very worthwhile places to visit:-

La Rochelle

In the 1970s La Rochelle provided free 'city bikes' and was the first country in the world to do this. It is famed for its beautiful towers and the city is surrounded by stunning beaches on which to sunbathe or simply sit and relax.

The Eiffel Tower

This is probably the most well known of all France's monuments, and is situated in Paris. When it was first constructed it was not quite as well-loved as it is today and many French people saw it as a waste of money and did not like it. The Eiffel Tower is named after the gentleman that designed it, Gustave Eiffel.

The French Alps

Fans of skiing have flocked to the French Alps for many years. It is a beautiful area of France with its majestic mountains and is home the highest mountain in the western part of Europe, Mount Blanc. These Alps offer world class skiing. The landscape is also very varied and there are many forests and lakes situated amongst the mountains, as well as shop markets and villages to explore.

Champagne

Champagne is both a province of France, being situated in the Northwest part of the country, and gives its name to the fabled alcoholic beverage, champagne, which is made in the region. This white wine comes in two sizes, the standard bottle which is 75oml and the 'Magnum' which is a 1.5litre bottle. It is generally viewed that a magnum of champagne is of superior quality to the standard bottle as it contains less oxygen, thus meaning that an appropriate amount of bubbles are created.
